![]() I did WoW by mouse clicking with no issues. Other people are far more talented and coordinated than me and will sprook off about how easy it is to do everything with the keys and how much I suck because I don't. If you start with melee I think you may find using all your abilities with the mouse as much as possible a little less fun and it might put you off the game undeservedly. Start as ranged (if you can get over the gender lock stigma that it seems lots of males cannot) to get the feel of it then try melee. ![]() Until you play, some (most?) of that wont make a lot of sense I guess but I recommend the game. I simply don't have the coordination to accurately get the right WASD keys fast enough and reliably enough to use them with the ability keys as well AND avoid the FAF boss attacks. I guess some talented people with good setups may be able to.Ī lot will depend on where you live and how fast your ping is as that could potentially reduce the response time you have and therefore increase the pace at which you need to play. A healer using just the mouse is too slow. I have no experience of it but that's what I have picked up in passing. I think if you want to play a healer you will need to get the hang of the keys as selecting team members might be an issue with the mouse. For me anyway: Ranged can easily mouse click, and melee not so good but I have no clue about scholar as mine is still level 5. Awkward but I am less practised with him and if it tanks I think it will probably just eat more AoE deliberately and still be OK. My warrior is only 27 (vs 5*Mage, 5*Archer and 2*Assassin) and he has the same setup as my assassin having to use the number keys and WASD with the same hand. If you are a group only type person then it wouldn't matter so much. Taking my fingers off the WASD keys to hit abilities just wont happen. That's like 80% of the combat floorspace trying to kill me plus an angry boss. I was soloing Hashmal Labs legendary dungeon at 1* on my assassin and there is often up to 6 static ground effects and 3 or more active ones at the busiest times. ![]() I spam those mixed in with some others on two keys and mouse the rest which are either high damage 'nukes' or general abilities. Assassins rely on building up points they can use to charge up high damage abilities. Reasonable evasion helps but it eats a lot more AoE than my mage and archer simply because I get it totally wrong trying to drive and use abilities with the one hand. Plus without the stacking abilities thing you don't have enough slots for them all. On the other hand my assassin has a lot more single target abilities with a fairly fast recast time and I have to use the stacked abilities with the number keys or it's just too busy. You don't have much time where you have nothing you can cast because it is all on cooldown but if you are in non-stop combat you may get a second or so here and there twiddling your thumbs while something really useful is refreshing it's cast time. The delay between uses of mage and archer spells and abilities gives you plenty of time to click them and keep your fingers on the WASD to move fast and avoid AoE's. If I am playing with someone in NA he will see me standing in the danger area and getting hit while on my screen I am well and truly safely out. ![]() I have got probably 0.6 sec to 0.8 sec on a good day less to move myself out of the damage area. I have made so many errors trying to do it I gave up. What this means is getting my fingers from the number keys to the WASD keys is simply not viable. You get the red floor highlight later and you effectively get the damage sooner (relative to anyone in NA) so you take it from both ends. Quite simply you don't have the same amount of time that someone in North America does. So you eat many more AoE than you should. I am in Australia and because of the ping time often the boss AoE effects still land even after you have successfully left it's range simply because of the fact the server is not told in time that you are out. This is a bit roundabout as far as explaining it goes but if you can decipher it then it might help. I find using a mouse far easier than the keyboard for my mage and archer.
